Standard operating procedure for guideline management

Publication details

Australian Government, 2018

The Standard Operating Procedure for Guideline Management (SOP) provides the operational detail for approving, reviewing, revising and retiring guidelines under the National Water Quality Management Strategy (NWQMS).

This procedure is intended for the use of the NWQMS governing committee (initially the Water Quality Policy Sub Committee). They should be read in conjunction with Design and Requirements for a New Guideline.

In general, all jurisdictions (authorised representatives from Australian, state and territory governments) must approve adding, reviewing, revising and retiring national guideline documents. Where a guideline is the joint responsibility of the Australian and New Zealand governments, both governments will need to approve that guideline.
